1 Exercise EVERY Single Player Should Use

I call August, September and October “Gut Check Time.”

Time to ask yourself TRUTHFULLY whether you’ve worked hard (and smart) enough so far this offseason…

…And time to really get FOCUSED for the last 12 weeks of training.

Any player can make unbelievable improvements in 12 weeks with the right training. Now is your time to do it. Take everyone by storm when that first tryout rolls around.

But first…

…You’ve gotta get laser-focused on exactly what you want to accomplish this season.

Here’s a quick exercise you can do (in 5 minutes) that will jumpstart your training and help you get re-motivated and focused for the final 12 weeks.

In the comments section on this page, answer these 5 questions truthfully:

1.) What Is Your END Goal? Do you want to play in the NBA? Overseas in Europe?

2.) List 3 major goals you want (need) to accomplish between NOW and your end goal. Do you want to play D1 basketball? Be MVP of your high school team?

3.) What Is Your Target Point Per Game Scoring Average Goal For This Upcoming Season?

4.) What Awards/Accolades Do You Want To Win This Season?

5.) Describe Yourself As The PERFECT VERSION Of You As A Basketball Player. Include: Your weight, your bodyfat %, your vertical jump, your shooting % in practice, how your handles feel, your basketball IQ, the entire bit. Really describe what you are BECOMING in these final 12 weeks. Picture yourself where you will be.

For example, my perfect image is at 200 lbs, 7% bodyfat, 41 inch standing vertical jump, 96% shooting from 3 in practice, with handles that can take me anywhere I want to go on the court, at any speed, without any fear of losing the ball.

I also have a crystal-clear image in my mind of what that looks like, and how to attain it.

The final 12 weeks of preparation start NOW.

In the comments section below, write out your 5 answers as clear and detailed as possible.

Share them with the group so we can help you get there. The most successful players leave NO stone unturned. They do everything they can to get to the next level.

Start now and I’ll talk to you in the comments!

- Taylor

P.S. This video STILL gets me motivated. Here’s a guy who knew EXACTLY what he wanted to accomplish and set out to do it at all costs:

3.) 32ppg. I know thats high but its my goal

4.) MVP of my team, MVP of my high school league, get 2 articles in the paper during the season

5.) I would be 170 pounds, 6% bodyfat, jumping 40 inches, and shooting 90%. Plus my ball handling would be perfect too and I would be the strongest most athletic player on every court every game

Thanks Taylor! I am focused on my goals!!!

Stephan, good job creating a vision for your future. You need realistic goals and 90% shooting isn’t even close to that – unless you’re referring to the free throw line. Trust you’ll re-adjust.

    [Reply]

    Taylor Reply:

If it’s 90% in PRACTICE, it’s more than realistic with the right training. That’s easy.

90% in games though, is not.

If you’re shooting 90% in games, you’re not taking enough shots.

1.) My end goal is the NBA, and to be the best player in it

2.) The 3 goals I need to accomplish to get to my end goal are:
    - Earn a D1 College Basketball Scholarship.
    - Lead the nation in scoring and become player of the year.
    - Get drafted by an NBA team of course.

3.) My target ppg this season is at least 30 ppg.

4.) I will earn Mr. Basketball in the state of WI this year as well as our conference player of the year.

5.) My picture perfecet image of me is 220 lbs, 4% bodyfat, 50 inch running vert, 95% shooting the 3 in practice, with the IQ to run the offense and the team and be a coach on the floor, and with the handles to perform any move, at any speed, on any defender, and with the confidence and mental toughness to make all of these things happen. That’ll be me.

    [Reply]

    Taylor Reply:

    Killer man.
You’d be a bad ass with a 50 inch running vert and 95% shooting.

The only thing that sticks out to me is the 4% bodyfat… At 4% your joints will take a pounding and your endocrine (hormonal) system will be shot. It’ll make it really hard to recover.

I’d shoot for 7-10%. That’ll be just fine for you, especially at 220 lbs.

    5) 6’5 (I’m 5’10 now) 220 pounds, 8% body fat, 45 inch running vertical jump, 90%+ 3′s in practice (doing prolific shooting), I want to be able to get anywhere on the court, break down any defender, and get into the lane at will with my handles (doing ball-handling mastery), I want to have elite level basketball I.Q so I don’t make a lot of stupid mistakes and the one that’s looked to to lead the team and make the last play when the game is on the line.

Also, I’ve been doing prolific shooting, but now, I have an elbow problem where I have a sharp pain when ever I fully extend it which tends to happen when I shoot. I’ve had to stop shooting the ball all together basically for like two weeks and all my training is going down the drain. I am going to go to the doctor soon but what do you think I should do with the season coming up soon.

My end goal would be to play in the NBA and become very successful there. I need to become a better defensive and offensive player. I need to play Division 1 basketball and prove to others I will dominate. I need to be the best player in the state for my last year at high school. My target points per game scored is 18 points per game. I want to win the defensive player of the year award, team mate award, and most improved award. I am 185 pounds, 8% body fat, and I don’t know my vertical off the top of my head. My shooting percentage in practice is just under 60%. When I handle the ball, I feel very confident that no one can stop me. My basketball IQ is okay but I really want to improve on it, I want to become a standout player as the weeks towards the season wind down. With basketball programs I can become a dominate player and prove to all the people who put me down I have risen above them. No one can put me down even if I lose a game, because I will come back the next game and be better.

Walk into a d league tryout and get an invite to training camp where I display my prolific scoring skills, and earn the starting point guard spot. Average 20+ pts and 8+ assists a game. To allow that to happen, my practice goals are to: improve my pre game preparation, visualize more, and go through prolific shooting really keying in on my stamina, you have to be in a -1 shape. In the next day or to go over all my notes, watch the defender control, pro series, and defensive drills video’s again. Every week following take an inventory reading this comment every monday. Consistency is key. Last year in sept. I started looking at the bball renegades site being an avid student of the game I’m glad to be a part of this. I’ve told many people about this site and hope that they’ve had as much success that I had, with their dream’s and what they want to get out of their career and life. From 2008-aug2010 I played very little basketball and started back in mid sept and was practically done but after looking at your site and talking with a few of my mentors I decided to give it another go. At 32 I feel great and this site has given me much confidence simply off the drills and information alone. I could go on and on but I’ll just say this if you just follow it staying commited and at a much younger age the sky’s the limit for all you. Due to work my time is limited so I need something that doesn’t waste time. This site gets it done! Thanks

Until I received your program I never knew I could play the way I do now, score the way I do, and help my teammates score. You honestly helped me change my game, my mindset, and the way others look at me.

You gave me a confident mindset of knowing that no matter what happens in the next game I play, I have the scoring ability that will help get me to the next level and I am ready to face anyone.

Just wanted to say thanks for your training – my ball handling has improved now I can beat anyone off the dribble!

You have some of the best programs I’ve used and my game keeps getting better! I can’t wait to show up next season and shock everyone with my new game. Thank you so much!

It doesn’t matter if you are looking to make the cut for the 8th grade basketball team, or if you are looking to get a scholarship.

Basketball Renegades will have your back and is the best resource in my opinion to help you reach your basketball goals.

In my opinion as a high school player Basketball Renegades has the best training available. From the programs to the coaching, and the individualized training, it’s the best resource that I’ve ever found.

My shooting, scoring, ball handling, and athleticism have all improved greatly and I’m getting better and better with every single workout.

Taylor’s training sessions far surpassed our expectations. He customized a program that delivered quick results.

The previous season my son was just a player on his team. This year he was the “go to guy” thanks to Taylor’s teaching abilities.

If you are serious about becoming a better player then you should definitely be training with Taylor Allan!

Basketball Renegades is the place for serious players to take their game to the next level. Taylor’s training is innovative and flat-out gets results.

Taylor’s knowledge goes beyond just basketball skill training and his programs and techniques incorporate all aspects of development that players need to dominate.
