“HYBRID” Ball Handling Drills From The Pro Leagues?
When I was in high school, I was a “Garage Dribbler.”
I spent HOURS stuck in that cold, grimy dungeon just pounding away at ball wraps, figure 8s, and two ball drills.
And although I was working HARD, I always had this sneaking suspicion that would run through my mind every time I pounded the ball against the dusty floor…
“The pros don’t do this….
Kobe Bryant doesn’t spend hours doing ball wraps or figure 8s…
…Derek Rose doesn’t freeze his butt off in his garage pounding away at two ball drills…
This is too simple… Too basic… The pros don’t do this stuff.”

If you’ve ever spent time alone in a gym wasting away at old outdated drills like figure 8s and ball wraps, I KNOW you’ve had the same thoughts.
Sure, those basic drills that you find in every run-of-the-mill $39.95 “instructional” DVD are OKAY when you’re just starting out, but if you REALLY want to get to the next level, whether its…
Division 1…
Europe…
The NBA…
…You’ve gotta train the way the pros train! No more wasting time with amateur workouts!
Even so, at that point in my high school career I just didn’t know of any better options… I didn’t have access to the REAL workouts from the pros.
Well, that all changed one offseason during a workout that I did with two European Pro League players.
My trainer, who was playing professionally in Italy at the time, invited one of his friends to train with us.
His friend, who played pro in Germany, turned out to be BY FAR the best perimeter player I’ve ever encountered (even better than my trainer – in fact, he was so good he was making nearly a million dollars per year playing PG for his German team).
No matter what drill we did, no matter what move he made… He NEVER lost the basketball…
He could move at warp-speed without any fear of a mis-dribble, his handles were so tight and powerful it felt like he was going to break through the floor every time he bounced the ball!
The killer crossovers and combo moves he could put together were absolutely mind-warping… It was like the ball was on a string, and he had total command over the basketball.
But more than that, the drills we did during that workout were UNLIKE ANYTHING I’d ever seen before.
These were HYBRID drills that meshed together complex movements to train ALL facets of ball handling, in a game-specific pattern.
We did drills like the “Gary Payton Drill,” the “Kobe Triple Combo,” and even “2 Ball Corner Turns” that integrated footwork, high speed ball handling, and complex change of direction movements that literally FORCED my handles to the next level.
As the results came pouring in, it finally dawned on me…
THESE ARE THE DRILLS THAT THE PROS USE!
Not some basic lazy series of ball wraps or figure 8s!
Sure, those are fine for warming up and developing basic ball control, but these HYBRID DRILLS were the key to getting GAME HANDLES!
Handles that allow you to literally do ANYTHING you want with the basketball, at breakneck speed without ANY fear of losing the basketball…
…Handles that have the crowd going WILD after you DROP your defender with your lightning-quick double crossover dribble.
…Handles that finally get you the game-time attention and respect you deserve, from coaches, teammates and scouts.
These HYBRID DRILLS are the ticket… No two ways about it.
If you want to become a PRO, you MUST train like a PRO!
Simple as that.
You need to learn and use these pro-level HYBRID DRILLS, especially now that the offseason is getting underway.
So along those lines, in just a couple days I’ll be sending you a full training video that will outline these hybrid drills, and a step-by-step system that you can use to take your handles to the PRO level.
Even better than that, I’ll show you how to take your current skill level, no matter WHAT level you’re at, and progressively train yourself up to the PRO or even “Mastery” level…
…Whether you’re a ten year old point guard (I train one), or a twenty year old pro wing player (I train more than a few of those as well).
These really are the secrets of the Ball Handling pros, and you’re getting them all in just a few short days.
I hope you’re ready for this…
- Taylor
P.S. These are the type of handles I’m talking about…

Taylor, what is your opinion on the Effective Ball Handling 2.0 program? (i’m considering getting it) Is it the real deal and does it use these “HYBRID” drills? Or could I combine the EBH2.0 with the hybrid drills in the upcoming video to make it the ultimate program? Thanks in advance for any reply.

It’s a great program, I’ve used it and endorse it. It’s not a hybrid program, but it’s still very effective.
We will be releasing our program, Ball Handling Mastery (with all of the hybrid drills patterned into the workouts) within the next couple days, the upcoming video will announce it as well.

Oh, and I got scoring secrets elite upgrade and have sent my questions multiple times and have never gotten a response. I sent them like may 1st or 2nd and have sent them at least 3 times. Could you get back to me. Mary Joyce said she would forward them to you because I followed the directions and still didn’t get a response. Thanks. Prolific Shooting is helping a lot. I have purchased the Effective Ball Handling 2.0 and this is my 4th week for it, TAQ 2.0, FIF, and Prolific Shooting. I start Vertfreak 2.0 next week so all of my programs end at the same time. I was wondering if I should switch out the EBH 2.0 with Ball Handling Mastery? (I know that EBH 2.0 is a great program, and you can’t say anything bad about it, but it sounds like Ball Handling Mastery is the REAL deal). And is this program 12 or 16 weeks? Thanks.

Hi Talyor have a question which program of all of yours you recommend me?
I have bought a program called double your scoring average from John Ewing and with shotting explanations of Tom Norland (Swish Shotting) and 1 on 1 defense Coach Reizo (stop KOBE in college with only 8 points) the shotting didn’t help a lot (best midrange “alone” (yes 100% practice shooter as you said) but my 3 pointer is average.
PS. I’m a 5 5 point guard 15 years old from Mexico currently in 8 grade (in Mexico jr high is until 9 grade, and I’m already playing at college level in a (internal league) and I play in high school
with 25 ppg and 7 assists
PSS Thank for all your free videos and explanations.

If the shooting didn’t help, and you’re still a practice shooter then I’d look into Prolific Shooting ASAP. There are a few points that I strongly disagree with Tom Norland on, and the results speak for themselves. So if you’re looking for one, I’d go with shooting.

Taylor, would you consider this overtraining or is it a good schedule: 4-5 days a week I work out. Every time I follow this order: Warm up, TAQ workout, EBH workout, Ball handling Mastery workout, and then prolific shooting workout. I know it’s a lot and would probably take me 2-3 hours that’s why I’m worried it might be overtraining.

Taylor Reply:

I would choose either EBH or BHM, and then cut the prolific shooting drills to ONE set per series instead of two. That’d be fine, you’ll improve exceptionally well on that schedule.

I am on the 3rd week of the 3rd month for effective handle 2.0 so I am just going to either finish out this month or I might do the entire program and then start ball-handling mastery. The Pro Dribble Moves Video doesn’t work though. Could you get that fixed so I can download it? Thanks. Also what do you think about doing lean muscle hybrid after completing the jump manual. I am going to do the jump manual this summer after I finish ebh and Prolific Shooting. Scoring secrets works like crazy. Thanks man

I already got access to the ultimate knowledge on shooting, athleticism, ball handling and scoring techniques. Just one more week after more than an year wait and the MUTATION will begin ! Damn, every time I check this website I feel that I am leaving this world and I’m flying to a secret mountain where I find secret scrolls with basketball training secrets, and I got access to them all, every time, feels incredible.
Oh yeah – A QUESTION (not that smart one lol ) What basketball should buy and use for primarily outdoor use? I see you, Talor, very often with MOLTEN on the videos. Is it MOLTEN that you used before when you were practicing outside? Hope you won’t this question for stupid, but I am from Europe, lets just say it’s different…

That’s all in your training manual, but you simply do them 4x per week, BHM first PSP second – both in the same workout. If it’s taking you too long, go ahead and slash one set per series off of PSP. Again, check out the training manual for details.

hey allan!
I bought ballhandling mastery and it is AWESOME. I just have a couple questions for you:
1) Where is the 7-minute first step manual with all the reps and sets?
2) Do I have to do ballhandling blitz before I start doing ballhandling mastery?
3) I’ ve listened to the competitive fire audio (it is the best part of the program) and in audio you’ve said we have to do 2 minutes isometric squat hold as a part of our morning ritual. Will that cause any type of fatique or overtraining(I’m already doing vertical jump program…)?
4) I only have 10 weeks of offseason. How can I do the whole program(12 weeks long) in that period of time?
looking forward to your answers,
you are the best

Gonna go check on the 7 minute manual – might be a mixup on my part. I thought it was already in there.
Ball Handling Blitz will help, of course. But again, it’s up to you. If you’ve done the 7 day sequence in the past 6 weeks, don’t do it again for a while.
For the holds, I’m glad you asked the question – it will actually help facilitate recovery and mobilize your hips. Isometrics don’t cause lactic acid buildup, because of “occlusion” – lack of bloodflow during the exercise. That’s why they burn so much but don’t cause any residual fatigue.
So long story short, no it won’t cause fatigue, but it WILL help recovery.
As for #4, I think the obvious answer is that you can’t – unless you have a time machine
Just get as far as you can in the program, and then begin your season. Also, if you’re more advanced now in your handle, you could begin with the ELITE program for 4 weeks, then MASTERY for 4 weeks, then do the power hour workout from Scoring Secrets for 2 weeks.

I have some more questions for you
:
1)What about fell warmup? Do I perfom it before or after ballhandling mastery?
2)Is it possible to do warmup, bh mastery and prolific shoting in only 1 hour? Warmup takes 30 minutes(physical+feel warmup), bh mastery 30 minutes, prolific shoting 60-70 minutes and 1 on 1 scrimmage takes 20 minutes? Workout like that would lasts for about 2 hours and 30 minutes. Is that allright?

If you do, cut prshooting to one set per series, not two. Then you can lift afterwards without worrying about your performance declining. It won’t hurt prolific shooting, but it could hurt your lifting – make sure you aren’t too exhausted by the time lifting rolls around.

Hey Taylor,
I have bought your Prolific Shooting Program and Basketball Scoring Secrets Program. I have also bought Become a Freak and the Truth About Quickness Program. During the offseason I plan to workout in this order:
TAQ
Become a Freak
Rest
Ball Handling Mastery (I want to buy this, but I have some questions about the program)
Prolific Shooting Program
Rest
Power Hour Workout (You recommend to do this a bit before the season, but I really think I can handle doing the Power Hour during the offseason, plus I think I’ll need it to master my finishing)
The rest between the two parts are probably going to be 1 to 2 hours long.
Also, I have some questions with Ball Handling Mastery, will it have drills where you move and not just stationary?
And 1 last final question!!!
When you released the e-mail concerning Prolific Shooting: Reloaded, I got that e-mail, but the link brings me to the site but the videos are all the old prolific shooting at this link:

Hi Taylor. I purchased the ball handling mastery hybrid drills a couple months ago but i lost the email that had the URL address on it. I tried e-mailing you about it but it said you had too many e-mails and to go to your website. I went there and it didn’t have my e-mail on file. This is weird because I have also purchased prolific shooting and unstoppable scoring moves (which i am able to access). Anyway, if you could just reply or send me an e-mail to access your ball handling mastery i would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Hey i would love to dribble a basketball as well as that. I too spend hours and hours of my time doing drills like figure 8s and have very little improvement. What are these drills and will they help me palm a basketball because when i drive to the hoop in a game i go up for a dunk and lose grip of the ball in the air.

Where do we get these drills?

Taylor, I am going to get this program soon so I can have awesome handles by December, when my towns recreation starts. I’m in middle school, and I practice handles in my garage, and I barely get better results, but I can honestly say I have “decent” handles. My dream is to become the star point guard. I’m a pretty goo shooter, but the main focus of a point guard is handling right? I hope your program helps me! By the way, is there any way I would be ready by september if I can only practice on the weekends? Please reply, thanks.

Unfortunately those aren’t available anymore – we replaced them with our current free offer on this site.

I have speed a shot and a nice knowledge of the game but I need ball handling if I want to compete with the seniors on my team because I’m just a freshmen

I enjoy your videos, be glad when you get rid of jwplayer and upgrade to a player that requires no buffing.

Hey, taylor, I‘m no serious player, in fact, I play terrible basketball. But I love playing it , ,and I get very nervous every time I go to the court, not to mention I get slaughtered that often. Then I tried many drills very hard just to improve my skill, like you did, and it ends up ok, but still, I always be ignored on the court. I dont wanna feel terrible ever again just when I see people playing on the basketball court, instead, I want to beat them and make them feel bad for mocking me… I really hope your program could help me ~~
