Your In-Season Basketball Training Program

So Pre-Season Peaking was a huge success.

Huge.

The results are through the roof, and I have a feeling there are going to be some absolutely dominant Renegades this season.

So it got me thinking…

What if we did the same thing for every season?

Pre-Season, In-Season, Off-Season.

We could really maximize year-round training, you know?

Well, here’s the deal:

I released a program last year called In-Season Domination. You might remember it – came out as a part of Prolific Shooting.

The only issue with that program is that since it’s a part of the Prolific Shooting program, it’s more focused on shooting than your overall game.

So here’s the deal:

If you’re up for it, I’m going to go ahead and completely re-create the program to be a COMPLETE in-season training system.

No, the program won’t look anything like the old In-Season Domination. I don’t even think I’ll be calling it that, to be honest.

But, if you’re interested, I’m going to put something together this week I call “The In-Season Challenge” and open it up to all of our BBR members.

It’ll work like this:

Every player who joins the Challenge will follow the program from November until the end of March. You’ll record your results all season long, how much you improved, your scoring average increases, etc etc and so on.

Then, we’ll dish out some killer prizes for the top “Challengers”.

Heck, we could do this year-round: Have a Pre-Season Challenge, and In-Season Challenge, and an Off-Season Challenge.

Just imagine how good you’d get competing and training at the peak of your game all year long.

Anyway, in my head it SOUNDS like a good idea. But hey – I only just started thinking this through.

So here’s where I need your help:

In the comments below, let me know if this is something you’re interested in. If so, let me know what you’d like to see included in the up-coming In-Season Challenge.

Right now, I’m planning on having multiple skill training workouts, in-season strength and conditioning, nutrition and recovery… Basically an all-in-one system for complete “In-Season Domination.”

So let me know down below – you might just be our next top Challenger.

This would be AMAZING to have year round. yes yes and yes. what you put together sounds great, id like to see lots of recovery information. my son gets many cramps while playing, so advice on that as well would be included if possible. I am looking forward to what you have to offer and getting it.

    Hey Taylor,

Mark here. My daughter is a huge fan of yours, and she works very very hard on all the basics – Scoring Secrets, Prolific Shooting, Ball Handling Mastery, Dominate On Defense. We have your leaders library and I have to say it’s the best basketball info I’ve seen in my years of being around the game.

Anyway, we’ve run into a problem with the training, because the programs are a little intense for her to continue doing in-season. So a new in-season program would be excellent for her development. We were going to do the Prolific Shooting in-season program, but this sounds even better.

For things to include, your outline sounds terrific. I would like to see some information on nutrition as well, that is the next step for her and my knowledge is limited.

im shooting high for the stars this season. looking to be one of the best guards in the state, and average more than 23 ppg

    [Reply]

    Taylor Reply:

For the peaking phase, remember you’re eliminating most of your lifting stuff. So no heavy lifting (at least for that short two week period). During the season, it won’t necessarily be “heavy” lifting, it’s a little more strategic than that. There will be explosive & bodyweight variations etc. as well.

I think this will be a great idea. This season is very important and need it to be a successful year. All of the programs have already been helping and the In-Season would just make it the best season yet. I’d like to see in season strength and conditioning as well as skill workouts and recovery to be able to last all season long. Looking forward to it!

    Taylor Reply:

Well you’ve got two main options – PSP + BHM instead programs, or the all – in – one Inseason Challenge. Up to you. Generally all in one solutions work a little bit better than pieced together programs, but that’s not to say you won’t get results with PSP + BHM – because you certainly will.

Well, I have team training twice every week (mid week), and a national league game on sunday + another game on another day (midweek). So I would have to fit this around have this and other extra team sessions…

But anyway; generally I wan’t the skill workouts to be focused on a small bit of repitition shooting but mainly game shooting drills (but something different to the prolific shooting drills as some new drills would be not just fun, but mixing up your drills is good according to various basketball experts). Ball handling is obviously needed to be included… I guess I just want it to follow the basic workout fomula^ but have more ‘game specific’ shooting, down screens, flare screen shooting, coming off the pick and roll and horns screens….

In approach to nutrition and recovery – It would be nice if you included some good ways to both recover and rejuivate our body in the program (Ice baths for example…) and nutrition – a nutritution plan to help balance diets in a protein high proportion?

In season strength – developing the vertical jump in season, so it doesn’t cause negative effects in your ability to plan, and overall fitness (lateral speed, power, explosion… strength – the usual suspects).

Looks like something great is coming as allways Taylor!
If you can give me any more details, hit me up in my email!

This would be CRAZY, SICK, ABSOLUTELY AWESOME, I’d be totally in. I bought Prolific Shooting Reloaded and the Inseason Domination is great for maintaining great shooting and even a bit of ballhandling, but like you said there could totally be a complete, fully inseason focused program that would push all users way ahead of the competition. I’d wanna see info bout recovery, and workouts that would help to hone all the basketball skills needed to stay on top of the game. Some parts about strength training to maintain that peak athletic condition would be great. I’d love to have a program that could help me maintain my condition during the inseason, I’m really pushing to impress my coach and avg 24 ppg but maintaining that peak condition is something I constantly struggle with. I’ve heard on facebook that Alex Maroko plans on trying to come up with something similar that’s called, what a surprise, “In-season Domination,” but I’m definitely going to go with your program Taylor. Can’t wait for this one of many amazing programs from the Taylor Allan Training library.

Yes I am absolutely up for the in season challenge. I know how to train during the offseason, and I kind of know how to train during the pre-season. However I am completely lost on how to train during the season. With the demands of the season with practice, games, and school work I do not know how I can still get quicker, faster, more athletic, more stronger, and increase my basketball skills daily while I am in season. I would love for this program to show all of this. I would also love for the program show all types of ways to recover faster than ever. Kind of teach my body to reload itself after games, practices, etc.

    hey taylor

it’d be great if you could do this man. !!IMPORTANT!!. i went to a training camp and sprained my ankle but lucky it was after i finished the loading phase of your pre season program so i had to rest for a week and when i returned to the courts to do a light workout my knees and ankles were just weird. i couldnt run properly or jump half as good as i could before and if i ran or jumped too hard my knees felt really flimsy and my ankles were a bad kind of stiff. this also threw my perimeter shooting off as well so i’m just wondering if this ever happened to you or anybody before and if you could also add some info on jumpers knee to the new program

    thanks

    [Reply]

    Taylor Reply:

Yes, I think that’s happened to just about every basketball player on the planet : ) I sprained each ankle more than 10 times, and broke both as well. I wouldn’t sweat it, that’s a normal thing to have happen when you first come back. But, there are still many stretches and activation drills (we have a lot of them on youtube) that will speed up recovery, as well as the bonus “unbreakable ankles” program inside of Ball Handling Mastery.

This is a great idea. But you should collaborate on a year round elite basketball program. Because I have all your programs, and the become a freak v2, the turth about quickness, effective handles, explosion academy and no sense muscle building programs from your friends. Plus intelligym. So if you could create a year round program that progresses every year and has nutrition, strength and conditionIng, defense, shooting, ball handling, explosion, quickness, vertical training, basketball IQ aspects, etc. That would be amazing because you need all those things to be the best basketball Player you can be. And that is one of my goals.. Hardwork is a key to goaling pro!

I know lots of people would pay to be apart of this program to if there a true basketball renegade. Plus It would be great to know the collaboration of these programs I created compares.

    Hey Taylor,

I got a suggestion for this inseason program

Its not basketball related, but it is at the same time

Its for school: Since playing High School basketball and having to focus on grades and stuff overlap, it would be great part of this system so not only we would be dropping 30 a game, but also getting 90s in class too!

Its just a suggestion (idk if you think its good or not) but like balancing these two would give more time for recovery and workouts and just some overall relief

Like if you had some tips or tricks to keep ontop of school work or organizers etc. whatever it would take, it would really give an edge

also because college coaches look for grades too, so being the full student athlete would be great,

Im gonna copy paste this and email it you just incase you don’t get this, but if you do please let me know if this might be part of the inseason program!

Thanks, and I seriously can’t wait

gonna be a good year :D

I was wondering if there was a way that I could put them all together in to one workout with all of the different programs (maybe except for VJF.)
    Thanks,
    Harlan

    [Reply]

    Taylor Reply:

Our fusion program will cover this, but you can basically do one skill workout and one athleticism workout per day, four days per week. The skill workout would go BHM, PSP, DOD. The athleticism workout would be VJF.

If you are serious about becoming a better player then you should definitely be training with Taylor Allan!
