The 3-Part In Season “Secrets” Series

In my last few years of high school, I was pretty advanced in my training.
I got my vertical up close to 40 inches, my shooting and handles were on-point, and my court feel was razor-sharp.
But even though I dominated every off-season, there was this one specific problem that kept haunting me…
After a few weeks of the regular season, I lost it all!
Ok, obviously not ALL of it, but here’s an example:
In my grade 11 season I lost 6 inches on my vertical jump over the course of the year.
6 INCHES!
By the time the playoffs rolled around I could barely even dunk anymore. All my training was basically pointless, since it all went down the drain when it really counted.
On and on it went…
Every year I’d crush it all offseason long, only to have my skills deteriorate as soon as the season rolled around.
And since I always ended up overtraining if I tried to work out during the season, I really had no choice but to suck it up and let it happen…
Eventually it got so bad that I actually LOOKED FORWARD to the season ending just so that I could train again and get my game back!
Luckily (if you know my story), the next season I had the help of a pro…
He’d been in the trenches of the european pro leagues for years already, grinding through exhausting seasons without any decline in skill whatsoever.
Heck – he couldn’t AFFORD to have his skills decline – they were paying him to be at his best ALL SEASON LONG!
After he taught me how to train the RIGHT way during the season, my entire game changed.
I was able to KEEP all of the gains I’d made that offseason, and use them from November until March… Without overtraining, and without losing my athleticism.
I actually managed to IMPROVE that season, even with practices every day, 2 games during the week, and 3-5 game tournaments every weekend.
I learned to train my vertical & quickness during the season without overloading my legs and killing my athleticism…
I was able to train my skills so effectively that my shooting and ball handling actually GOT BETTER over the course of the year, and peaked during the playoffs.
…And I did all of this while keeping my legs completely FRESH and ready for games and practices with the team.
Basically, I did what I thought was impossible:
I conquered in-season training.
And in a few short days, when In-Season Secrets is finally released, I’m going to show you how to do the same. This is going to be your best season ever.
Tomorrow, we will be back with Part 2, where I’ll show you EXACTLY which In-Season programs to AVOID like the plague if you want to have your best season ever this year.
Talk to you then!

Aaaaaaand we’re back!
I hope you’re as excited as I am about In-Season Secrets… I’ve got 4 beta-testers reviewing the program right now, and the early feedback is INCREDIBLE. I can’t wait to get it into your hands.
Anyway, here’s what’s going on today:
There’s a specific type of training (that almost every player uses) that I call “the silent killer.” Basically, it depletes your body of the explosive power you need to perform at your best in-season.
Here’s how it works:
Inside your body is all-powerful system called the CNS (Central Nervous System).
The CNS is the system responsible for generating your explosive power on the basketball court. When it’s depleted (from specific types of training that we will talk about later), you lose a HUGE chunk of your athleticism, mental acuity, and even raw skill.
If you’ve ever gone to the gym and just felt “off” that day, you know what it’s like…
…No matter what you do, you just can’t get into it.
Here are a few day-to-day signs of CNS fatigue:
- Having a hard time getting out of bed and waking up in the morning, feeling drowsy
- Feeling drowsy during the afternoon
- Feeling more AWAKE at night than during the daytime
- Not jumping as high or moving as quick and sharp as you usually do
- Not playing as well in big-game pressure situations as you do in low-pressure situations (like pickup basketball).
Those are just a few, but you get the idea.
And to make matters worse, almost everything you do during your basketball season is considered HIGHLY CNS FATIGUING!
Any time you play in a game, scrimmage in practice, or heck – even get nervous and anxious in front of a coach or scout… You are draining yourself of “Nervous System Energy,” and therefore depleting your explosive power.
And the thing is, these are all things you HAVE to do during the season. It’s part of the job, and it’s why we play in the first place, right?
That’s why so many players find themselves getting “worse” during the season than they were during the offseason.
So during the basketball season, our job is to find a way to RAPIDLY RECOVER from this CNS fatigue, so that we can play our best every time we step on the court… Even when we have multiple games and practices every week.
AND, we have to figure out a way to continue training our skill and athleticism DURING the season, while ALSO recovering the CNS at the same time…
Sounds impossible, right?
That’s what I thought.
Then I discovered a training technique called “CNS Cycling.”
It’s a training system that actually HELPS your CNS recover during your skill and athleticism workouts – so that you can not only IMPROVE your skills during the season, but always perform at your best in games.
So tomorrow’s article is all about CNS Cycling – what it is, how to use it, and why In-Season Secrets is the only program available that uses this new training technique to skyrocket your skills IN-SEASON.
Talk to you tomorrow!
Oh, and PS:
If you’ve ever felt like you were “in the zone” during a practice or game… Like you can jump higher than normal, and hit all your shots… That’s normally just a sign that your CNS is “fully juiced.”
And, that’s the feeling we want to give you ALL season long! I hope you’re ready for this…

You’ve got a LOT on your plate during your season…
So much, it’s almost impossible not to horribly overtrain.
Here’s a quick list of what you’ve got coming up, just off the top of my head:
- Team practices
- Team games
- Weekend tournaments (these are a killer)
- Strength training
- Conditioning
- Vertical Jump Training
- Shooting
- Ball Handling
- Active Recovery
- Scoring Drills and move work
…The list goes on and ON!
So understandably, most players break down and actually get WORSE during their season instead of getting better… I know I sure did.
Until I found the answer: CNS Cycling.
With CNS Cycling, we actually BUILD the recovery INTO your training!
So even when your team practices and games wear you down so badly that you can’t even imagine training on your own…
You can hit the gym (while all your teammates are probably face-down on the couch, exhausted)… And make actual IMPROVEMENTS in your game, all while actively recovering and getting “fresh” for your next game or practice.
As you can probably tell, this is NOT like our normal training – not even close. In fact, if you try to use your regular off-season program DURING the season, you’re dead meat.
We use VERY strategic drills, in very specific sequences, at very specific times.
In many cases, we actually build active recovery techniques RIGHT INTO your skill training and athleticism workouts!
The result is a program that not only skyrockets your skill levels during the season, but also allows you to stay completely fresh for those all-important games… You know, the ones where the scouts fill the stands and your team is counting on you.
The CNS Cycling technique is the FOUNDATION of our brand new program:
“In-Season Secrets”
…Which is making it’s official “debut” release TONIGHT at 12:01 am November 1st.
Right in time for your season!
Here’s a sneak peek at what you will get with the In-Season Secrets training package:
- The In-Season “All-in-one” training program, including shooting, ball handling, vertical jump training, quickness, conditioning, strength training, and nutrition
- The “Rapid Recovery” advanced training video, where we walk you through the most effective recovery tricks in the basketball world today… And, show you when and how to use them for maximum results.
- The famous “Renegade Warmup”, “Renegade Jump Rope Series” and “Renegade Foam Rolling Sequence” training videos
And even:
- Balancing school with basketball. Hey, if you can’t keep your grades up, your time on the team will be cut short. I’ll show you the exact school work schedule that I personally used in high school to achieve an 87% average (yes, it could have been higher, but I wasn’t always perfect about following it myself). You’ll impress a TON of scouts with your GPA this year.
And honestly, that’s just the tip of the iceberg for this program.
It truly is the most complete system for In-Season training, and it’s about to be in YOUR hands.
Use it well, and I will see you “on the inside” tonight at midnight!

This is what we have been waiting for. I was looking for a during season program for my son, he is grade 8. I saw another one come out a day or two ago, but didnt get it hoping you were still making yours. Now I know. Thanks so much will be following closely. My son will love this.

Really looking forward to this Taylor! I have a question, with my training for my team 2 nights a week and then plus in season training will I be overtraining? My knees do get sore so is that okay?
But I am really looking forward to this program, I will use it, hopefully it will work like prolific shooting worked for me! Thanks for all of your work!

Hey Josh – that’s exactly what it’s for. Players who have practices almost every day, and games all the time too. So this should suit you perfectly. The training and recovery tricks will also help with that knee pain.

This is too proper homie…. I cant wait to see it man. !!! that totally happened to me last season… i came out bangggggg’n , and then middle of the season i started to slow down. If this program will maintain my results and even sharpen them as well woooooaaah im all over it when it comes out

[Reply]
Hey taylor i currently have prolific shooting but i have not been able to use it as of yet. I am currently doing the jump manual and i have been trying to get in contact with you for a long time, it is very frustrating can u email me a schedule that i can use if it is possible to do the jump manual the same time as prolific shooting.

Taylor Reply:

Yes, it’s very simple. From what I understand Jump Manual runs 4 days per week. I suggest doing your Jump Manual workouts on the same days as your prolific shooting workouts, 4-6 hours AFTER your shooting workout. That way you have the other 3 days of the week to recover. Keep in mind you can’t use this schedule in-season. You will badly overtrain.

If you overtrain your skills in season will your skills get worse? How many days a week should I train my skills?
[Reply]
Taylor Reply:
October 29th, 2011 at 2:46 pm
Yes, that’s the main problem with in-season training. You deplete your “CNS” which kills your skill and athleticism. So the goal is the have a program that actually helps your CNS recover instead of taking away from it. We will talk about this more in the series.
[Reply]
I can’t wait for this, I’m a pg and I basically lost my handles and starting spot during the season so this will be extremely helpful. I mean, bhm says to do the stationaries during the season but this’ll probably be more. Plus, the sophomore coach runs you dead. If he gets mad, sometimes you won’t even play and he’ll make you condition for the whole 2 and a half hours. Will this be expensive, because I don’t know if I’ll have the money or not?
[Reply]
Hey Taylor,
Hope your doing good out there. Just a quick question. How much will this program be? I’m trying to determine whether to get Alex Maroko’s In Season program, or yours. Is it going to be one program, or split in two like his. Details would be much appreciated! Thanks you

One complete program with recovery, training, vertical jump training, in-season techniques, school stuff, etc. Price for the full system will be less than $50, but I’m not sure exactly how much yet.

Taylor Reply:

Unless you’re using an in-season version of VertFreak, I would NOT do that program in-season. It’s far too CNS intensive and you will not recover to make progress.

I know im probably overcomplicating things but which one should use? or does it not matter? and also, know its not offseason yet but its been bugging me i dont quite understand how the HIBT program would fit in wiht BHM and PS. Which program should i use?(next offseason)
Thanks a lot taylor, definitely looking forward to using the new program and youve been a huge help to me it may not seem like much but i made my intercity team for the first time in my life thanks to you. With this i KNOW i can average 15 points a game this season

I’m still in high school and i love your training
Also i’ve been going through some hard times the past 3-4 months. It all started with getting appendicitis in July and was out for a month, then i was able to play again but i pulled my hampstring during practice
. and 2 to 3 weeks ago i got 1 or 2 concussions. and my spirts on starting on varsity this year are not too high even though i started since sophmore year.
I don’t know why i’m telling you this… I’m probably just venting..
Anyways I’m excited to see what you put together.
Hopefully i’ll be able to get enough money..
because i’m hearing all these stories online about your program and i hope… no believe that it will help my get back up into playing quality minutes on my school team this year.
Thanks for reading

I am a high school coach who will be starting my season next week. The in-season training sessions that you are offering is just what the doctor offered. I want my players increase their level of performance day by day, can’t wait to see what you have to offer.

I have been trying a couple of your drills so for the jump tuns and the stands and pocket drill for that quick release. I tried it the first week went to the park on the Sunday morning in slippers and ended up playin two pick up games and killed them with just outside shots all game long. To avoid injury stop playing after the second game. That is just two drills what about if I had all the workouts I would b unstopable. Thanks for showing me the right approach to improving my game

Hi, I know this thread/page is kind of inactive, and that you don’t sell this program anymore, but I really want (need!) to buy this program!
I’ve been suffering from a knee injury due to overtraining for aproximatly two years now and I am currently on rehab. I’ve decided to work out more intensively and effectively (no more 5 hour shooting workouts…) when it’s time for my come back.
I’ve already bought scoring secrets, but I have never had the chance to try it out due to my injury. But the contet looks really sick and I now that it’s going to help me be the best that I can be.
Anyway, this program would really help me with my in season skill work and prevent my injury from relapsing and, other over training problems ( My team has got 4 practices and 1-3 games per week)
P.S. I know that you’re not selling it at the moment, but why say no to easy money?

I have all of your programs, VJF, Prolific Shooting, Ball Handling Mastery, Dominate on Defense and Scoring secrets, and I was wondering how I could put them all together into a workout. Would it be possible to have all of them together during the same workout, right now I have ball handling and shooting together but where can I fit in the rest.
Thanks a lot and loving the programs,

Hey Taylor, thanks so much! I got Scoring Secrets 2 weeks ago, and my ppg has already increased by about 6 ppg. I feel way more confident on the court, and am not afraid to take any shot. If i got prolific shooting, would i have to go to the gym everday to use it?
